French Polishing

Although paint is the most common finish for woodwork around the home, varnishes, lacquers and traditional polishes give an attractive and durable finish to joinery, enhancing and protecting the colour of woodwork without obscuring the beauty of it's grain.

Wood Products

French Polish
Quick drying, shellac and resin blended polish

Black Polish
Especially used in the ebonising process. Jet-black and completely obscures the grain.

Button Polish
Traditional polish suitable for antique finishes. Golden brown in appearance.

Garnet Polish
Dark brown in colour. Used to create an aged effect on all types of wood.

Special Pale French Polish
Suitable for wood requiring no colour change. Colourless and transparent, made from the finest quality dewaxed shellac.

White Polish
Suitable for use on satin light woods such as bleached walnut and ash. Milky white in appearance.

Natural Finish Varnish
High quality, non-yellowing, water based varnish for interior use producing a durable and hardwearing seal to protect soft wood such as pine. Low odour and a generous covering rate. Natural Finish Varnish can applied with a brush, Liberon Foam Applicator and even through a spray system. All tools can be easily cleaned in water. Available in matt or satin finishes.

Hardwearing Varnish
Clear, hard polyurethane varnish. Highly resistant to water, heat and alcohol. For use on tables and furniture which require maximum protection.

Natural Finish Floor Varnish
A non-yellowing water based varnish providing a slip=resistant, durable and hardwearing finish. On new soft wood floors it greatly reduces the 'orange' effect common on old softwood flooring treated with other finishes. Mixing with Palette Wood Dyes or water based concentrates, a colour finish can be achieved. Applying to dyed wood will produce a greater depth of colour. Available in matt, satin or waxed effect finishes.

Pure Tang Oil
A natural and pure non-toxic oil for use on surfaces such as kitchen work tops, chopping boards, tables and toys. Also suitable for garden furniture and exterior woodwork.

Finishing Oils
A blend of high quality oils for surfaces which require hard wearing and water resistant finish. Quick drying, low odour and easy to apply. Suitable for use on interior surfaces in daily use. Contains Pure Tung Oil.

Teak Oil
Traditional cabinet makers blend of high quality oils producing a hardwearing matt/satin finish. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor furniture, excluding oak.

Boiled Linseed Oil
Similar to Raw Linseed Oil but has had hot air passed through it to improve drying times. Often used to lubricate French Polish.

Raw Linseed Oil
A traditional oil used on hard or close grained wood. Often used on cricket bats and for lubricating French Polish.

Liming Wax
This product is used for achieving a limed finish.

Liquid Beeswax with pure Turpentine
For use on dry, absorbent woods and recommended for architectural wood such as old beams, paneling etc.

Beeswax Paste with pure Turpentine
Traditional wax for use on absorbent woods such as unsealed pine and oak. Feeds wood and protects against excessive dryness.

Liquid Wax (black bison)
For use on large areas such as floors, paneling, skirting boards etc.

Polishes used in the traditional method will give a superior finish to handrails, balustrades, newel posts and many other fixtures.
